Beatle Bones and Smokin' Stones

beatles, originally uploaded by wastedpapiers.

The rain stayed away long enough for a shopping trip to town despite the crowds. I borrowed a Jacque Tati DVD "Playtime" from the library and found a book about magic with some nice old victorian engravings ( re-print) for £1 in the market. I met Hazel and Archie later to buy some plastic archive containers with lids that will keep the mice out hopefully. Six for £16. Hazel also bought some socks for Archie as the others keep vanishing into thin air (where DO all the odd socks go?).
When I got home I filled four of the six plastic boxes with mail art from the shed. It was a very satisfying feeling to sort through it all and find a few choice items to put on my other blog and know that thet will be safe from nibblings of rodents.

Thanks for that interesting snippet of info. Alex, we've often wondered. Hazel has decided to buy all new socks for all of us and throw all the miss-matched pairs away. Just plain colours so every one will match another.

Oh dearie, sounds like you are
getting very organised!
Glad the archives have found
a safe home from the scittering
little varmits.

I am so impressed with your purchase of the organization boxes! Really though, you have some incredible pieces of art and they deserve to be preserved.

A good way to keep your socks from escaping to Sockville is to safety pin them together when you take them off to wash. The little tiny ones so they don't leave any holes. Yes, it's exreme, but it does keep all your socks together. It might take a few seconds to do, but it saves time in the end because you don't have pair them after the wash.

It should of been done a long time ago really. I feel rather ashamed that it's taken this long! So much more to box up. Luckily the new plastic boxes hold exactly two of the old fruit boxes worth of mail so 12 empty boxes waiting to be recycled or burnt now.
The most interesting aspect of the Jacques Tati DVD is the "extras" which include two short documentaries - one about Tati and his work and another about the making of Playtime. Also a commentary and short interview with the assistant director.

I always enjoy the extra
features on DVD's too...
especially interviews or
how special effects were
made.

Thanks for the nice comments and in STEREO too!
I have no problem wearing odd socks but Hazel has this terrible fear of them for some reason? She must have been frightened by an odd sock as a child - that might explain it?

When you're a child there are plenty of odd things to frighten you. And not just socks.
