Walk Around The Block

Some odd things lying around on the pavement and grass verges as we wandered around the local area after going to the post office and the doc's to drop off my prescription docket.

Air Gallery - Altrincham

Braved the trains to go to Altrincham and the excellent Air Gallery to see latest "Macabre" themed exhibition. Archie's girlfriend Meriel had a piece of work in it. Had cheap lunch in the cafe and studio tour. Did some shopping in town after lunch. Some new paper lampshades - several charity shop DVD's. Nice sunny day - the town was pretty busy . Thankfully the train home was long so plenty of room to get away from non mask wearers.

DIY - Hallway and Back Room

Hazel has been busty painting the hallways and the wall above the mantelpiece in the back room ( no photos as yet ). We decided on Duck Egg Blue and not the pale Yolk Yellow it was before. Took ages to remove all the coats, scarves, umbrellas, boot rack, nick-nacks , photos etc. Quite a big space once all the detritus was removed! We are pleased how it's turned out - looks cleaner and tidier now. Hazel is still trying to fit everything back in but I have a feeling a lot will end up in the loft or the shed!

River Weaver and Carey Park

Pleasant walk to our favourite bench by the river after some shopping this morning. Quite mild still for October - the sun was trying to poke it's nose through the clouds but failed miserably. A vee shaped squadron of honking geese flew over. Still a few blackberries to be had but our fridge is full of the ones we picked last month.

Fishing Ponds and River Dane

Sunny walk to the fishing ponds and River Dane this morning. Quite mild for October. I felt overdressed in my raincoat and scarf. It's hard knowing what to wear these days! Lots of apples still left on the Community Orchard trees. I expect Transition will have another apple press day soon and make some juice. We have apples in our garden so don't need any for crumbles. No herons or other exciting wild life. The occasional slug. The leaves just about hanging on to the trees.

Congleton

Nice wander round Congleton today but rather concerned not many were wearing masks in the shops. We learned later that Congleton has a high rate of covid infection and we can see why. People think it's OK as they have been jabbed but sadly you can still catch it and be quite ill. Some of our friends and relatives have had it and it's not very nice. Anyway, we enjoyed our trip despite this and popped into a few charity shops that weren't too full of idiots. Didnt find much sadly but the sun was out and it felt very Summery. Likewise the antique emporium was good but thankfully quiet so the non maskers weren't such a problem. Prices seem to have gone up so no bargains. Hazel bought a prism/dangler for the light in the back room . It catches the light and makes a little rainbow. Aw shucks! Nice picnic in park with old chums Tony and Pene. Caught up with all the gossip and news from Oz etc.
