Altrincham Trip

Had to lug Archie's "Wishbone" sculpture over to the Air Gallery in Altrincham yesterday. Hazel's work fitted neatly into her pocket so wasa bit more managable! He'd made a very nice but heavy wooden slimline crate to protect it so that made it awkward for getting on and off the train. Thankfully the train wasn't too crowded although a women near us sounded like she was coughing up buckets of phlegm! Nice. Hopefully it was Covid germs she was spreading around. Needless to say we were the only ones wearing masks. Aftr we'd delivered the art we went shopping around the town. Didnt find much in the way of bargains. Most of the foodie shops seemed rather meat orientated . In the end we shared an egg mayo sandwich from Boots to tide us over. Hazel bought some advertising thimbles from one charity shop.No photos so you'll have to imagine a thimble with Fish Paste enamelled onto it. Or whatever it was it was advertising. I forget what exactly. On the way home we spotted the new pylons by the TATA factory- all complete now and waiting for cables to be attached. Whoopee!

Air Gallery - Altrincham

Braved the trains to go to Altrincham and the excellent Air Gallery to see latest "Macabre" themed exhibition. Archie's girlfriend Meriel had a piece of work in it. Had cheap lunch in the cafe and studio tour. Did some shopping in town after lunch. Some new paper lampshades - several charity shop DVD's. Nice sunny day - the town was pretty busy . Thankfully the train home was long so plenty of room to get away from non mask wearers.

Altrincham

Braved the trains to go to Altrincham to see Archie's work in the Air Gallery. Only two carriages going but thankfully not as busy as last week. Some idiots still not wearing masks but kept a safe distance. Very warm. A short walk from station following the train lines. No surprise the Air Gallery is run by an ex-Interactive Arts student that Hazel vaguely remembers - also ex- MMU Fine Art also involved. Nice exhibition in a refurbished industrial unit. Building also housing 25 small studio units and a cafe. Walked to the centre of town afterwards - very busy - lots of out door eating places - felt very much like Brighton. Altrincham has certaily changed from the drab place it was several years ago. Went in a few charity shops but didnt find anything. Hazel said all the clothes were much more expensive compared to Northwich.
