Walk To River Dane

Nice sunny morning. Good to see the ducklings thriving. Also the heron on its nest or look-out post? No froglets but plenty of coots and ducks.

Walk to River Dane ( Trying Out New Pocket Camera )

Nice sunny day but a bit nippy. We never know which season it is and which clothes to wear! Lovely to see two ducklings on the pond. So tiny! No swans - the geese seem to have taken over the swans nest. A few coots and moorhens. Grumpy do walker. Nice mad from the apple crushing event was waiting for the others to turn up to mow the grass and harvest the willow. He asked if we wanted any willow. We said we didn't as didnt have a damp garden which is what they like apparently. We dotn fancy weaving baskets either. No tiny froglets.

Swan Feeding

This mornings windy walk to the fishy ponds and the River Dane. Bbbrrrr! A bit nippy but nice to get out and stretch our legs. Saw a man with a bucket and trowel. We thought he was feeding the swans but he was very wary of the swans as they waddled towards us looking menacing but all they wanted was Hazel's frozen peas. Luckily she used them as a decoy and the man with the bucket ran passed and vanished into a hedge. What would he have been collecting I wonder? Mushrooms?

Walk To The Fishy Ponds

Nice wander to the fishy ponds and River Dane. Two swans preening. No interest in food so glad they are not hungry. Some coots and ducks trying to balance on the thin ice that still persists. Quite fun to see them try and balance and fall in. Sun very bright.

Archie and Meriel Visit

I'm sure I put these photos on yesterday but they seem to have vanished? Anyway - here they are again with some that Meriel Clarke took. Lovely to have both Meriel and Archie Leigh-Jones at home for a couple of days. Went for a walk down to the community orchard and the fishy ponds yesterday. A bit muddy and no swans and few ducks - they must have flown off for the festive season! I made a lasagne last night and then we watched Muppets Christmas Carol - one of Michael Caine's best performances.

Oh yes, showed Archie and Meriel the willow horse thats taking shape down by the Community Orchard. Took a few photos and Meriel took some too. It wasa bit nippy out so glad to get back in the warm.

Community Orchard and Swans

This mornings walk to the River Dane and fishing ponds to feed the swans some frozen peas. They seemed to hoover them up like no business. A duck was telling a joke nearby - the Sid James of the duck world judging by that mad squawk! Nice and mild today. Felt too hot in my duffle coat and scarf. Nice to stretch our legs before going home to get on with stuff. Finishing off a small zine I started the other day.

River Dane Orchard

This afternoons walk around the fishy ponds by the River Dane. Fed the invisible ducks with our stale bread. Saw a couple in the distance but they flew off as did the coots. Maybe the voles and rats will eat it? It was quite warm out - for end of September. Not as much invasive Balsam as in previous years thankfully.

This mornings walk to the Community Orchard and the fishing ponds. No bread this time but the duckies kept following us around the pond looking hopeful. Very sunny and warm. Brught blue sky. Good to get out before it got really hot. The maize is gettig quite high now. High as an elephants eye. Home for collaging and lunch.

Walk To The Bramble Bees

This mornings walk along to the community orchard and the fishy ponds. Tiny frogs underfoot so we didnt get far! Scared of squashing the little blighters! So the swans didn't get any sweet corn and we didnt see the ducklings or the baby coots. We sat in the orchard and watched the clouds flexing their muscles. Some strong ones full of rain in the distance. Hazel chopped back some of the offending brambles. Bees buzzed in the blossoms. The wonders of nature!

Swans - River Dane

Ester Sunday. Nice sunny wander down to the River Dane and Community Garden etc. Swan was happy to each the sweet corn Hazel took along. He wanted more and chased us down the path! We managed to escape and walked round to the cornfield which had been partially ploughed. Home again for lunch.
