Wilfred RIP 2007-2009

Sadly poor old geriatric Wilf the hamster shuffled off to the big wheel in the sky last night. He was found just now looking very pathetic and cold. Hazel shed a few tears and we buried him in the garden with all the other hamsters, blackbirds and Flo the Bunny who occupy the little graveyard by the tree house. A polish neighbour came out to hang things on the line and waved - probably wondering what this strange english ritual is with the bundle in a tea towel being buried under the apple trees?

Thanks A. Wilf was quite a character - the most friendly and cutest hamster we've ever had ( he's the third ). It was horrible to see him go down hill so fast but he hung on for two weeks when we thought he'd breathed his last he emerged from his ball of fluff and stagger to the food bowl and drinking bottle. Hazel couldn'd bear to see his empty cage so she's put it in the shed.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Wilfred. Rarely is there a rodent of such stature. He will be missed.

He was a hamster of true grit and real character..he battled on.
He is the only hamster we had that came out when you called him and the only time he bit me was in his last week when he couldn't see and mistook mt finger for the grape I was holding.(I hope that's what happened..I pressume it wasn't planned).
He is missed..it is amzing how attached you get to such a small being. HAzel

I never met Wilfred but I know he was an exceptional character, embodying all that is good and noble about hamsterkind. Rest in Peace.
