Chilly April Walk

 When someof the country was covered in a fine dusting of April snow we got off lightly with a chill wind and some frosty looking blossom.  A short walk around the local park and then down the back path to the post office to mail a packet.  Brrrr!  Glad to get back in the warm!

Easter Sunday 2021

 Nice easter Sunday walk down to the River Dane and the fishing ponds.  Very misty to start but soon the sun came through and it warmed up.  Saw a heron taking off from the largest fishing pond.  Took  a photo but just got  a grey misty square of reeds!   Hazel's shot with her ipad was slightly better - at least you could see the heron - a faint blurry smudge in the distance!  No chocky eggs but we were given some bars of Kit Kat, Crunchie, etc. to scoff at our leisure.  Had a nice chat with Archie on the phone.  He and Meriel had some sushi with the EASTER treat money we sent him.   Sounds nicer than our sloppy Welsh Rarebit ( forgot to toast one side of bread!) 

Miniatures 2020

 Good to see this project grow from small beginnings to become the wonderful thing it is now - a double CD set with a 68 page booklet sprinkled liberally with my collages!   Hazel has even got a track on it!   here we are rubbing shoulders with the likes of  Billy Bragg,  Toyah, Wavis O'Shave, The Ukulele Orchestra of GB,  Alternative TV, Peter Blegvad and many more .  124 tracks in all.  Read more about it HERE.

Hazel Has Her 1st Vaccine Jab

 No photos of the Morrisons car park and "pharmacy" tents in which Hazel had her 1st. Astra Seneca jab yesterday but it wasn't very pretty!  Here's some shots from a recent walk over the  corn stubble and the local River Dane Orchard hedge etc.  Hazel said it didn't hurt a bit but last night had terrible shivery and flu like symptoms that a lot of people seem to have after their 1st vaccine jab.  I guess I was lucky just having a sore arm for a couple of days.  Some paracetamol seems to have done the trick though and her online tutorials are going ahead.  A bit cooler this morning after yesterdays  heatwave.  I walked down to the post office and on my way dropped off my prescription form into the window of the group practice. The dustbinmen have been up to their old tricks again and pushed next doors bin on it's side amonsgt some scattered detritus .  No Xmas box for them this year!

Back Garden Carnage

 We ate our breakfast and sat horrified and astounded at sight that met our eyes the other morning.  This sparrowhawk came from nowhere and had his breakfast in our tree amongst the bird feeders!  Poor little sparrow didn't stand much chance.

Carey Park Ramble

 This mornings wander round Carey Park. A bit muddy after all the rain. Flocks of midges anticipating the sun coming out. A crow in a tree. Catkins. Blossom in the hedgerows. Percy Edwards hiding somewhere doing all the bird noises. 24th March 2021.

Lostock Walk

 Actually two walks - one on Saturday over at Anderton where the photo of me was take with a wooden reindeer we found in the woods.  Yesterdays walk was over in Lostock after we dropped off Hazel's Mom's chicken and other groceries as we do every Sunday morning.  A quicj walk to the brine pumps and the hissy pipes .  This is what passes for entertainment in these days of lockdown!

River Dane Walk

 Nice walk this morning down to the River Dane and the fishing ponds.  Spotted what we thought was an exotic bird perched on a branch over hanging the river. As we got closer we realised it wasn't an owl but a plastic bag that had got entangled in the braches during the recent flooding!  Oh how we larfed!

Mothering Sunday

 Mothers Day and a walk to the Co-op for the "chicken run" to get a chicken for Hazel's Mom and sister plus a few other bits.  I walked round the park until Hazel emerged laden down with four bags of stuff to carry home.  Later we went over to Lostock to show G&A the lithophane that Archie made on his 3-D printer for Hazel - an old snap of us from the 90's. Had a quick chat and afterwards a walk to the by-pass passed a few daffs emerging.  Brrrrr! It was pretty windy and cold!   Good to get home in the warm.  Archie zoomed later for a chat.

 This is released tomorrow. Lots of my collages are featured amongt the artwork and Hazel has a track opening the second CD or this two CD set.

Lostock Walk

 This mornings walk to Lostock and environs. Nice to see a few daffs emerging. Not a very good sheep photo. Dropped off some Co-op bought food stuffs etc. to Hazel's Mom and sister.

Marbury Country Park

 Nice walk around Marbury this morning.  Joined the twitchers in the bird hide and amused by the dangling squirrel.  Lots of blue tits and finches, ducks and moorhens. I think I saw a mouse scurrying through the undergrowth - might have been a small bird.  It was cold and grey.  Car park was full but luckliy we found a space in the road by the Garden Centre.  Hazel bought a few plants for Mothering Sunday (next week )  and some potting compost.

River Dane and Fishing Ponds

 

This mornings walk to the River Dane and the fishing ponds. A bit grey and nippy but nice to get out and stretch our legs.  Very quiet - no one fishing or dog walking except in the roadways - just the chirping of birds and quacking of ducks and moorhen.  Nice to have the place to ourselves.

Walk Around Plumley

 Sunny walk around Plumley for a change.  Hazel dropped off a plant at her old train gang chum's place and had a quick socially distanced chat.  Saw some amazing swathes of snowdrops and daffs just emmerging. Lanes very quiet except for the odd cyclist.  The main road was slightly busier and tricky to walk as there was no footpath just muddy tracks where a tractor had churned up the kerbs. Nice to get out into the sunshine and see a different landscape.
