The old giant pear joke never fails.

Archie still not very well so we kept him off another day. Hazel is at home to keep an eye on him so I was able to wander into town in the drizzle for some fresh air and a chance to try out my new camera. Took a couple of the pub signs down Witton Street for Al's Frickr group. I would have taken more but it was very gloomy and wet.
Bought some bread though sad to hear that the "seedy loaf" was no longer available. Luckily the old witch with a face like a slapped arse wasn't in today and I was served by a young girl who was quite pleasant and had manners.
Also bought some re-writable CD-R's for the audio recorder as the others were a bit scratched and jumped occasionally.
With the Times this week you can buy a DVD of Morecambe and Wise highlights for £2.99 which seemed too good to miss. Every week they are selling a BBC related DVD cheap if you buy the paper. Next week I think it's Jane Austin's "Persuasion" starring the Krankies and Basil Brush?
The surveyor is coming tomorrow to measure the shed for the conservatory so I cleared some of the junk out of it to make his life a little easier.
This afternoon catching up with some mail and various mail art related projects.

This shed talk is very exciting isn't it?

Roger... don't be a killjoy.
I, for one, am very glad to hear that Hazel is finally getting a proper place to work. Having built a studio for myself (unfortunately, no longer mine), I do have to warn... that once it's built, Hazel will have to get in there and WORK.

That wasn't sylvie it was Jon....
Thank you for your support everyone....the removal of the shed had been a long awaited ambition and we need all the encouragement there is...I thought it was all going smoothly...but the surveyor came round today and it doesn't look simple anymore.
I will send Roger a long letter all about it as you sound so keen to hear..I know how much you love talk of party walls and footings and plastic window frames..!!!

I'm all for the construction of a building that will get Hazel to make some of her awesome inventions! Just don't put a computer in there. She'll hardly get any work done reading through countless blogs and playing for hours on Flickr.

How stupid of me- sorry Jonathan. Its the stress!

Oh dear, these things are never as simple as they ought to be... What kind of problems are they cooking up for you. Never mind, Michael... I have no idea what you wrote, anyway...

I wasn't being sarcastic, Jonathan. I'm a fan of the humble shed. One of my heroes is Arthur Two Sheds Jackson.

And Michael - thank you for shedding more light on the situation.

I'm sure there will be way more decisions to make than you wish, Hazel...but know you must be excited to see this new work space! We both sorely need it here! Don't forget to send us a picture when all is done! And hope weather, etc. works so that it moves along quickly for you.

I will be sorry to see the old shed go as I'm a fan of sheds too. We have a lovely book called "Blokes and their sheds" which full of great photographs of huge sheds full of stuff and contended blokes sitting in them , a little refuge from the stresses and strains of the 21st century. I must take some photos of sheds with my new camera. Trouble is people will think I'm a burglar casing the joint! Or worse!
But the shed has seen better days and it will be great for Hazel to have a retreat too.
