so what's wrong with Betty Boop?
Today we went into town to exchange a faulty Samsung DVD player for another. It had been playing up for a while - the picture freezing for no reason and more recently not playing discs atall. Luckily its only 6 months old so still within it's guarantee period. They didn't quibble about it much to my relief and as they didn't have an exact replacement settled for a Sanyo of similar price. Unfortunatley it doesn't seem to like some of the VCD's and refused to play the Betty Boop but strangely happy to play the Ren & Stimpy which are on the same kind of CD-R? Always something eh?

It's tricky all this technology isn't it? I've got this great piece of kit. It's got fantastic resolution and it doesn't need backlighting - you can see it in bright sunlight. The monitor's all built in. It's light and durable - you can drop it and it doesn't break. There's a huge range of titles available. You don't have to plug it in. It's cheap. That's right - it's called a book.
Forgot to tell you that I am coming to your blog now (from good old qbdp).
The great things with DVDs is that I can take any of mine to the UK and not one will play. Wrong "region" of DVD. My daughter is now a big fan of "The Office," but she checks DVDs out of the library that play in this part of the world.
Geof
But surely you could get one of them "multi-region" dvd players and bring it in your hand luggage! They get smaller all the time.
Do you do a lot of travelling with DVDs then?
I don't, but i think Geoff does. I usually travel with as little as possible. If going on a long train journey or a plane I take a good book. When we went to Venice I took the autobiography of Frank Skinner which is very funny in parts and quite rude.
Saves you from the dilemma of deciding between "Betty Boop" and "Ren and Stimpy". though...
hey jonathan, that's a bit cheeky, making a blog and just using it to make caustic remarks about other folks hard won blogs! Come on, lets see some blog action! Blogs at ten paces!
There we go, Michael... Now you've done it... given me yet another addiction... thanks...
