Birthday Boy

Lovely B'day so far with tons of cards and presents and morning wandering the byways of Frodsham with Hazel Jones. No bargains to be had sadly and all that B'day money burning a hole in my pocketses. Then off to the antique emporiums of Lady Heyes to see what vinyl they had. Not much by the looks of it. Nevermind. Then to Whitegate Way for a walk and alfresco lunch under a shady tree. We took some photos for Allen Bukoff who I share a b'day with - hiding behind trees, signs and a wooden spoon! We know how to have fun!

42nd Anniversary

To celebrate we went to Frodsham to look round the charity shops and the antique emporiums. Didnt' find much. I got a couple of Japanese films on DVD. Hazel got some fabric and a jumper. Nice walk aroud Acton Bridge whilst waiting for the pub to open. Found this post box in the village. The Hazel Pear is very nice , quiet and friendly. Average pub grub.

Frodsham and Lady Heyes

A nice wander around the charity shops and old buildings of Frodsham this morning. Spotted a few bits of novelty brickwork. Got a nice double Jerry Lee Lewis country album CD in one charity shop. Hazel bought a few things inc. new loppers for her birthday in a couple of weeks. Then to the gallery in Castle Park Arts Centre. Some nice rugs and less nice paintings. Then to Lady Heyes antique emporiums to mutter about the high prices of stuff. The record shop was open but didnt see anything I wanted. Tempted by some Cosmotheka albums but I have a lot on cassette. Drizzly so home for egg and fakey bacon sarnies. Living the dream!

This mornings wanderings around Frodsham Castle Park and then Lady Heyes antique emporiums. Didnt find much - just two DVD's in the Oxfam shop. Nice sunny day - good to get out after all that rain!

Frodsham and Lady Heyes

Nice wander round Frodsham's charity shops this morning. Got a few bargains - mostly DVD's for £1 or less. A Mike Leigh boxed set in Spanish. Lincoln with old thingy. Laurel and Hardy. etc. Hazel found a long mirror and a stained glass window. This photo is from a previous visit when they had a big book shop - now an antique empoium at Lady Heyes. Cloudy at first but soon brightened up and then blinded by sunshine as we drove home!

Doodles and Frodsham

FRodsham this morning - early start. Found a few DVD's in the various charity shops inc. a boxed set of jean-Paul Belmondo £2-50, Arthur Askey boxed set of avi. fuzzy films that some devotee had put together. Not sure I'll be watching much of that as it is a bit too blurry being 4 films on one CD. I thang yow! As Arthur would say. Hazel got a few bits and bobs including a spool of green thread, a plastic letter opener and a box of joss sticks that smell like a hippie commune. Then to a friendly antique shop where the owner amused us with tales of propelling pencils etc. Hazel bought one with a penknife attached for some reason. She obviously fell for his disarming patter! Then off to Lady Hayes antique emporium for more rummaging in piles of tat. Not much there really. Gone down hill from it's glory days of the noughties. Home for some doodling and tofu and egg seedy bun.

Frodsham B'day Treats

Grabbed by the fuzz! Not really - nice birthday treats and ramble around Frodsham charity shops. Got a few DVD's with ill gotten gains. Some old postcards to play with - lovely one of Southend. Vege sausage roll al fresco while the sun shone briefly in between the showers. Then to Lady Heyes antique emporiums to rummage among the detritus. Didn't find much. Home for lemony dribble cake that Hazel made.

Frodsham

Nice drive over to frosty Frodsham to look round the charity shops and junk shops etc. Found a few bargains. Hazel got a lead cowboy drawing his guns to go with the other three lead cowboys on the picture rail above the mantlepiece. Also a blue bowl. We have hundreds of bowls so don't know why we needed another! She can't help herself. I found a copy of "Flyposter Frenzy" that was published back in the 90's - full of mail art folk we used to correspond with. Then to Roy's little shop of treasures. He's very chatty and shows us some prize possesions he didn't want to sell - had to move the poor slumbering dog to get at them - a fancy architects measure thingy and beautiful old glass Xmas tree ornaments ( £4 each ) We were tempted but a bit pricey and fragile - the chances are they'd be in bits time we got home. Tried the bakery for some lunch but they wanted to charge us 50p to heat up a pasty so we decided to go to a cheaper shop down the road. We were going to buy a loaf too so they missed out on several pounds worth of sales. After a cheese and onion pasty in the car we walked round the antique emporiums at Lady Heyes. Found a few more bits and bobs. Freezing cold wind blowing off the Mersey - Brrrrr! Glad to eventually get home in the warm.

Frodsham

Nice morning over at Frodsham after dropping Archie off at Sainsburys. Marveled at the olde worlde 17th century buildings but only managed to take photos of the electricity sub station on the Sandstone Trail which seemed more relevant somehow?! Not many bargains to be had though Hazel was tempted by the eye glass thingy in Roy's Relics. Roy was very amiable and told me all about his massive record collection and pointed us at the bakers opposite when we asked if he knew any good eateries. It turned out they did a very nice breakfast and sold delicious wholemeal bread ( expensive though at £3.50 a loaf!) Then to Lady Hayes antique emporium for a wander, but their prices have shot up over the years so we didn't buy anything. Home for lunch.
