RIP - Trevor Counsell (1947 - 2026)

Trevor with Barry Wenden and me - art students in Manchester around 1968.

Playing pirates on the Shropshire Union Canal where he lived on a narrowboat for many years.

His adopted duck Basil ith a reputation for attacking TV presenters made the local papers in Staffordshire.

Trevor more recently with his old car.

Trent and Mersey Canal

Nice muddy walk down the canal tow path until it got a bit too muddy and we turned round and came back to the park. We found a musical penguin. Hazel played it with her pen. She didn't fancy picking up the tethered hammers which were probably covered in covid germs! Squelch squelch! Thats not the music the xylophone made but the sound our boots made in the mud. The xylophone made a sort of plinky plonk sound.

Walk By The Canal

Chilly walk along the frozen tow path of the Trent & Mersey canal this morning with Hazel. Went as far as the TATA factory with steam belching out. The sun was slowly melting the ice and turning back to mud so we didn't venture too far. Saw a bird of prey sat in a tree - a hawk maybe? Lots of dog walker. Some parts of the canal were frozen over. We tossed sticks and stones in to hear the weird noise they made skimming across the ice. Popped in the Co-op for some bananas, milk and other bits. More mail art sorting in the afternoon.
