Walk Along Canal to Co-op.

This mornings walk to the canal and the park and then the Co-op to get a few bits. Plenty of foraging material - berries, plums, sloes etc. Saw some baby moorhens having a run along the canal bank and diving in. Nice cool breeze. A chance of some rain again. Rained last night - a few puddles around. Got apples and buns, plant sausages on special offer. Exciting eh?

Walk To The Park Via The Canal

This mornings walk down the road to the by-pass and then down the canal path to the Broken Cross pub. A poorly pigeon. Saw some ducks (one baby) and some coots (one baby) and some Grebes ( 2 babies?) all diving under water so hard to snap! On to the park for sit down on a bench and watch the clouds roll by. Then to the Co-op for some mushrooms.

Trent and Mersey/ Griffiths Park

This mornings wanderings along the Trent & Mersey canal towpath . Lots of canoodling ducks and dog walkers. Sat in the local park listening to the birds. Hazel found a few on her Merlin app. Surprising how many breeds there were - crow, robin, dunnock, eurasian magpie, dove, etc. Then to the Co-op to get a few bits we were lacking. Bumped into our neighbour Richard and his dog Sparky for a brief chat. He'd just had his second eye op. and was wearing dark glasses.( Richard was wearing the glasses not Sparky!)

Trent And Mersey

This mornings muddy wanderings along the canal and round to the park and ending up at the Co-op for some milk, onions and other things we thought we might be short of. Lots of twitterpated birds in the hedgerows and undergrowth. Swans to avoid and made whippet bouncing down the tow path. The fascinating close -ups of detritus , bottle tops and suchlike vanished for some reason? Ah the mysteries of the Samsung W8150F.

Boxing Day

Blimey! Xmas is over and we need to do some serious walking to loose some of those calories gained over the festive period. Eating too much - as we do every year. Like most people do sadly. Nice to get out in the sunshine and walk along the Trent and Mersey canal path. Its a bit nippy and the ducks look thin and bedraggled. Sorry - no stake bread for you! Ended up at the park and then the Co-op to get a few bits we are running out of. Hoping there would be a sale on chestnuts like there was last year.20p a bag! No such luck. Home for lunch and playing with our Christmas toys. Collaging of course and the occasional cracked walnut and stollen slab!

Trent and Mersey Canal

This mornings walk along the Trent and Mersey canal. Bumped into a nice old chap with a ex racing greyhound. A very quiet thirteen year old who doesn't even bark at the postman or the delivery drivers. He has to walk him/her 4 times a day and sleeps the rest of the time! (Not sure if that was the dog or him?) Sat on the bench in the park on the way back to catch some rays. The man on the invalid scooter thing was circling nearby. He usually sits there so we got up and went to the Co-op for some washing powder , tea and bagels. Exciting eh?

Walk Along The Trent & Mersey Canal Towpath

Signs of Spring along the banks of the Trent and Mersey canal this morning. A muddy walk in the sunshine. Spotted some daffs and tete a tetes and blossom. The ducks and swans looked very frisky. We ended up in the local park and finally the Co-op to get some yoghurt and lemons ( Pancake day on Tuesday!)

Walk Down The Canal Path

Plagued by ladybirds on our walk to the canal this afternoon. I had 5 on me at one time. Lots of spots. Hazel says these are the kind that are dangerous and go for the throat! I think she was kidding. Anyway....
...we could only snap this one as the others all flew off or vanished up sleeves and down trouser turn-ups etc.
So then we went over a bridge. We saw swans and some boats. One was full of sweets in cellophane bags. My teeth ached just looking at them!
Lovely sunny day - was like being back in July again!

Trent and Mersey Walk

This mornings walk along the tow path to Crikly Cross and then via the by-pass. Very warm and humid. A family of swans on the tow path - as we passed one of the adult swans hissed at us so we stayed as far away as we could whilst taking a photo. No ducklings sadly as in previous years. Or ducks for that matter! Home again to get n with some collaging before it got too hot.

Canal Walk With Tone and Pene

Thankfully the weather improved enough after the rain so we could venture out and sample the delights of the Trent & Mersey canal with our old chums Tony and Penelope. They came for lunch and after pudding we tried to shed a few calories by yomping over the nearby park and along the muddy canal path to the Old Stone Cross and back round the houses. I was having trouble trying to get an old VHS player to chew though some old films I'd found at Dave's and Tone wiggled some wires and it started to work which was great considering it had been gathering dust for a few years in the attic!. Now got to try and digitise them.

Trent and Mersey Walk

This mornings walk to the canal and along the tow path to the A556. Nippy start but soon warming up in the Bank Holiday sunshine. Who'd have thunk it? Saw a few baby ducks in the reeds - a bit too dark to take a decent photo. Looking for gravy powder for Hazel's Mom. Didnt find any along the canal but asked in an asian shop that was open. He looked rather puzzled and showed me some cheese sauce packets. O well - looks like Granma will have to rely on what she has lurking in the cupboard.
