Fishing Pond
A murky walk to the fishing ponds and the River Dane. The largest pond has been dredged of weeds just recently and the piles of weed can be seen all round the edge - quite alarming how much there is! One wonders if there is much more to drag out. A small tractor with caterpillar tracks did the job by the looks of it. We saw two swans circling around trying to land but in the end they decided the pond was too small and went off flapping to the canal or the larger lakes nearby. They made a curious noise like a wet fish slapping a whoopee cushion. The cornfield was even muddier than before and Hazel took another photo of it with me looking perplexed. Lots of activity in the lane as diggers and vans stopped at the temporary traffic lights and others went into the new housing estate to finish off the pavements and drains etc. Back home up the hill - the last bit of our workout.

Blakemere Wonderland
Nice walk around the woods at Blakemere. Stumbled upon a Autumnal wonderland of rockets and planets hung in trees - part of the "Magical Woodland" experience that's on every evening from October to the end of November I think - lots of illuminations, lasers and projections etc. More impressive by night we imagine although we were delighted to see it in the daytime and have it all to ourselves!

Shackerley Mere
Pleasant walk in the bright sunshine around Shackerley Mere this morning. A bit crowded with dog walkers and toddler walkers but just enough space to get away from the crowd.
Lots of geese, ducks and swans gliding across the mirrored water. Lots of fishermen too - some just packing up so they were probably there from the early hours. Most had little bivouac tent affairs that foded neatly into a canvas bag. The ideal social distanced hobby/pastime.

Chicken and Waffles
The usual Saturday "Chicken Run" to the Co-op early this morning in the pouring rain. Decided to go in the car for a change and stay reasonably dry. Later to Hazel's Mom and sister's to drop off the chicken and waffles etc. Sat in the front garden but it was pretty cold despite the sun popping out briefly, so we didn't stay long. Hazel did a dance in front of the window to entertain her Mom. I read the local paper - full of doom and gloom! The enormous fat cat waddled up to say "meiow" and point at it's face for food. Audrey has been feeding him despite the knowledge that he might explode!

Marbury
Nice walk around Marbury. Along the lake edge - water seemed a lot higher after the recent heavy rains. Lots of mad dogs and owners to avoid. Hazel wanted some new plants for herself and her Mom and sister so we ended up at the garden centre and had to lug four bags full(£28) back to the car which was parked the other side of the walled garden and on the main Marbury road. Then over to Loctock to give the plants to Doreen and Audrey.
