Marsden and West Yorkshire

Just a few snaps from our trip to Yorkshire on Monday and Tuesday. Stayed at our old chum Dave's place in Marsden. Brrrr! It wasa bit nippy. Nice wals around the town at night to see the Xmas lights and even a quich drink in the Railway Arms. Also a quick jaunt to Glossop on the way and around the charity shops. Got a stack of DVD's including Solaris, Confidential Report (Mr. Arkadin), Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton) etc. Also a trip to Slaithwaite to get some lovely vege pasties for our lunch. Although the natives were very hostile for some reason - nearly got run over in Aldo car park by some grumpy bloke going too fast and got a fist waved at me from a window as I briefly stepped into his garden to avoud a large crane lifting girders by the canal bakery! Ah the great Northern sense of humour!

Marsen and Slaitheswaite

Nice couple of days in West Yorkshire at Marsden and Slaithewaite. Stayed at our old friend Dave's place in Marsden. A nice walk around the town in the afternoon. Popped in the church as the organ was playing. Nobody but the chap guarding the book of condolence. Hazel felt obliged to sign but really we'd just come in to see the stained glass windows and the pillars etc. and hear the organ bouncing of the old stone walls. Stopped off at a couple of the charity shops. Found a lovely book about popular Indian art, posters, matchbox labels and murals etc. This morning in Slaitheswaite to buy some bread and pastries at the canalside bakery. Yum! Traffic a bit calmer coming home - no "school run" to contend with. 13th 14th Sept. 2022.

Marsden

Nice coupe of days in West Yorkshire in Marsden and Slaithwaite. A bit cooler thankfully. Walks to the old mill and resevior. Tripto Slaithwaite and the lovely artisan bakery to get pasties and bread. Sadly the delicious croissants had all sold out! Fish and chips in the park. Popped in a few chairity shops - got Archie a badminton racket. Some cheap DVD's. Drive back via Glossop.

Marsden and Slaithswaite

Nice couple of days in West Yorkshire staying with our old chum Dave. Some lovely walks along the canal and around the town. Sunny but slightly nippy. Discovered a great artisan bakery in Slaithswaite by the canal. Spent loads on sourdough loaves, buns, pastries and delicious almond croissant we shared in the lock gates as a mid morning snack. As good as anything you can buy in France. Yum! The antique emporium was a bit pricey but Hazel bought an old bread token that seemed appropriate - simply pressed out of tin.
