Another Rainy Weekend

I walked to town and back yesterday before the heavens opened. We seem to have got off lightly in Cheshire as parts of Wales and Yorkshire etc. have been badly flooded.
I bought some cheap DVD's at the library sale including "Factotum" with Matt Dillon about the life of drunken poet Buckowski.
Also 2 other films I'd never heard of. Everything reduced to a pound now to get rid of them. I looked through the books but nothing worth having. Some odd titles like "Guinea Pigs For Dummies" and "Succulents for Fun and Profit" etc.
No boot sales today alas. I don't suppose there will be many more now that Autumn is here.
Hazel and Archie made an "upside down cake" which was a bit soggy in the middle so they put it make in the oven for a further 15 minutes. That seems to have done the trick. It has pineapple and cherries in it.
Rare sighting of a kestrel in in garden pulling apart some poor bird. A pile of feathers left where he'd had his dinner. Unusual to see it up close through the window by the car's front wheels. No time to get the camera- he was off.
Have been making some collages - one can be found at Scrapiteria.

hey - enjoyed Noah and the Whale. Nice band.

They reminded me a bit of Jonah and the Flood.

Havent watched the Factotum film yet Jonathan - its in a large pile of unwatched DVD's that we will get round to eventually.

I don't know much about Noah & The Wahle but like that they use ukulele's and sing simple catchy songs. We have been whistling it all day long here.

Jonah and the Flood sank without trace a few years back.

If I'm not mistaken, it was just about this date 7 years ago that Sylvia and I took a "day out" trip from London to visit you for the first time in Northwich. Just a few days after 9-11, (or do you call it 11-9?) As always, you were perfect hosts. It was great to be able to reciprocate last month...

You could be right Jonathan. All these visits tend to blurr into one ofcourse as the years go on and my brain gets more fuddled!
It must have been a nother time we took you to Beeston Castle and climbed to the top and to the birds of prey display at the Crafts Centre place? We couldnt have done that all in one day!? Maybe we did.
I'm amazed what we packed in during our week in the USA! I need to have a lie down just thinking about it!

Hazel- We REALLY enjoyed having you here. The time was too short, though. All sorts of art we should have tried to produce... to mail to our mutual friends... Ah, next time...
