I can't believe that Hazel forgot! It's usually me that forgets things. 22 years since our first date at the Guy Fawkes bonfire and fireworks party in Alsager where Hazel was studying for her degree in Forgetfulness! She's suitably embarressed and blames the college work load - just too much to think about.
Anyway I went into town this morning and found a few bargains including an old 78 shellac disc of The laughing bassoon by Charles Penrose who was famous ofcourse for the Laughing Policeman that got played to death on Children's Favourites on the radio. I'd love to feature it on Boot Sale Sounds but dont have the technology to transfer 78's to MP3 yet. I'm hoping Hazel's sister, Audrey, can copy it and some other 78's to a cassette on her new record player. Watch this space.
Also got a few DVD's for the pile- those from magazines they give away free. "Water Like Chocolate", "Only Fools and Horses" and "The Last Emporer" amongst them.
There's a bonfire and firework display at Verdin Park tonight so looking forward to that if its not raining.

Happy Anniversary!!!

We're off to a bonfire tonight. Probably at Battle - which apparently is the oldest one in Britain.

I'm hoping I can find one a bit nearer, though, that won't be as overcrowded.

Failing that I might just buy a packet of sparklers as always.

Thanks Roger. Hope you had a sparling time! We did- the Rotary Club always put on a fine display. My ears are still ringing! Luckily the rain held off to the last minute and then a fine drizzle came down to send us home happy.

It was actually put on by the round Table I think.!!!
Wonderful HUGE display..I kept thinking that must be the finale after hundreds of pounds worth of fireworks went off..then another even better lot were sent up ..WOW...
You have to walk up a steep hill through a park to get to the bonefire..really lovely atmosphere of wet leaves, smoke, mud and excitement...with a bit of drizzle thrown in...I know that might not sound fun to people in warm countries..but beleve me theres nothing better if you've got your wellies on and are wrapped up warm.
Hello roger..if its the oldest display in Britian does that mean you have to use old firworks and burn the pope?(just heard on radio 4 that they didn't burn Guy fawkes..but an ephigy of the pope).
hope you found a good one..although a sparkler in the back garden can be a lot of fun.

Glad to see that the 'blog censor' has gone but sadly my original comment has gone with it.

This will have to do . . .

November is a great month for anniversarys (Happy First Date Anniversary by the way). Ours was the first. It took me six months to ask her out (Jasmine that is). No. Sorry. Apparently I got that wrong SHE asked me out. November the first 1972. Good God don't it make you feel old?

Congrats again!!!!
