Zap! Pow! Clonk! Twang!

Batman and Robin

Ah, the elastic has gone on Batman's underpants again!
Here's a collage from the archive I uploaded for the new theme of Super Powers at Collage Kids on Flickr. Not quite sure what super powers Batman had though? I don't really think he had any.
Super Blogging has really taken hold here but alas I seem to be falling behind with updates. Not enough hours in the day to add things to them all and do the collages and all the other things one gets distracted by. Before you know it, it's time to make the dinner and collapse in front of the telly.
I did wander into town again as the library sale is still on and DVD's CD's and videos have been reduced to a measly pound each. I know I'll never have time to watch any of them! Still a pile of freebies from newspapers piling up. Today DVD's from Wim Wenders and Bertilucci! What next - Citizen Kane and Battleship Potempkin?
Yes FREE! In todays Daily Sport - the complete works of Shakespeare and as a special bonus "Last Year In Marienbad"!

Super cool collage! I loved the Batman TV show as a kid. The sets were colorful and those flashing sound effects were great. My favorites were the Joker (Cesar Romero) The Riddler, and Egghead (Vincent Price).

While on vacation, I found a shop specializing in ATC ephemera, etc. I saw some really neat cards firsthand that had been given to the store by local artists so I'm kind of getting the idea about what these are. I have one question. How do you know which graphics are copyright free so you can use them on the cards and which aren't? Or can you just use anything? It sure looks like fun!

Oh, and love the Batman and Robin collage!

Thanks Angelica. I used to enjoy the tacky sixties Batman too but most of all I loved the old chubby Batman of the 40's serials we saw at the cinema matinees. I'd love to see those again.
Egg head! yes I'd forgotten all about him and obviously a big influence ED?

A shop that sells ATC's ? ! Sounds very strange. I get all mine for free! I dont bother with copyright as most of my images are so old anyway from vintage magazines and books. Ive never been challenged about them anyway. If they were printed on T-shirts and I was making lots of money from them I guess people would take more interest - money talks as they say!

Thanks for the nice comments. I do appreciate them.

You keep changing your picture. How do you do that? I must have another go!

Bought a fab present for Archie in Paris. I'll put it in the post tomorrow. Don't know if he'll like it - but I do. Glad he had a fab time!

Sorry I wasn't clear. The shop didn't sell ATCs. From the way it was explained to me they have to be traded from artist to artist. They did however sell the makin's for them. . . tiny little odds and ends, rubber stamps, inks, etc.. And the lady working there told me what ephemera is (and how to pronounce it, but did I spell it right?) Anyhow, it was fun.

Oh I see. Still, ATC's seem big business and it surprises me they have made inroads into the mainstream- I though they were exclusively a "mail art" thing!

Roger, if you joined Flickr you would find it easy. All you do is put the link to your URL provided into the box shown. I'm sure ~Archie will be delighted with anything from France as long as its not a Can Can dancer. I'm afraid I would have to confiscate it.

Maybe I need to investigate Flick oo er then.

Oh dear, so you don't think the can can dancer will be suitable then?

Wastedpapiers said...

Yes you should Roger though you probably don';t have time to indulge yourself in the various amusing groups for Bonzo Dog, mail art, Gocco, Toys, Collage, Seaside, Punchlines, etc. it is a useful place to store photos and its FREE!

I'd not mind the can can dancer but Hazel would disaprove probably.

Batman doesn't have any superpowers just a dark and violent side. Well the original did and the more modern versions certainly do.
The Batman of the sixties TV series fame was a funny and camp variant but bears little or no resembalnce to Bob Kanes original.
Time for you to do a UK comic greats collage maybe?
Dan Dare, Desperate Dan, Judge Dredd, Marvelman, Dennis the Menace etc

I must admit I did collect a few american "Marvel" type comics back in the 50's and 60's ( i wish i still had them!) as well as the U.K. comics. There used to be a great comic stall at Pitsea market near Basildon where I spent most of my formative years. I used to buy a few every Saturday after the matinee Cinema Club at the Century. (photo in archive stream) Also a wonderful stall that sold ex-juke box 45's very cheap. So my love of POP was born there i think both visually and musically.
Good idea for a collage CJ. I will try and do one this evening if i get a chance.

Love the new comics blog CJ and good to see Roger has taken the Flickr plunge. I tried to look at your photos but you don't seem to have any yet?
